Siargao is a tear-drop shaped island situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte. The island's Pacific-facing reefs are situated on the edge of the Philippine Trench. The extremely deep offshore waters assure the ocean swells have undiluted power when they encounter the many coral and rock reefs, giving Siargao excellent surfing conditions, particularly during the southwest "habagat" monsoon from August to November, when the prevailing wind is offshore. Siargao is called the “Surfing Capital of the Philippines”.
Siargao is a classic tropical island which lays protected with its surrounding coral reef, white sandy beaches, and the dozen coconut palms dressed in the center circle of the island rustled gently in the morning breeze.
To get to Siargao Island, one can take either a flight via Asian Spirit or ship to Surigao City via WGA Superferry. Then from Surigao, ferries are available to take you to Siargao. Another route is by flying to Cebu via PAL, Cebu Pacific or Air Philippines first, then taking a connecting flight to Surigao via Asian Spirit or directly to Siargao via Seair.
