Metropolitan Manila is the capital of the Philippines and among the world’s thirty most populous metropolitan areas. It is the political, economic, social and cultural center of the Philippines, and is one of the more modern metropolises in Southeast Asia.

Metro Manila, composed of 14 cities and 3 municipalities, is where the country’s most prestigious business addresses and trendiest leisure establishments are found. Makati City is widely acknowledged as the financial capital of the country where one can find the Makati Central Business District (CBD). Also posing as a competitor for a vibrant business center are Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Eastwood City in Quezon City, Ortigas Center in Pasig City, Manila Bay City Reclamation Area in the cities of Pasay, Parañaque and Las Piñas, and Alabang Estates and Madrigal Business Park in Muntinlupa.

Accommodation establishments, from pension houses to five-star hotels, abound in this bustling metropolis, as well as several shopping centers, dining and recreation facilities. Most hotels are concentrated in Manila/Bay area, Makati and EDSA/Ortigas area. The City of Manila is home to several tourist attractions such as Intramuros, Rizal Park, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Chinatown; while several restaurants, bars & nightclubs are found in its Ermita and Malate districts. The City of Makati is the location of most 5-star hotels and of upscale recreation and dining establishments such as the Ayala Center, Rockwell Center and Greenbelt. The Ortigas Center in Pasig City is also known for upscale hotels, shopping centers, world-class dining faclities and bars/nightclubs.

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is located between the boundaries of Pasay City and Paranaque City. There are currently 3 operational airport terminals in Metro Manila: NAIA 1, NAIA 2 and Domestic Airport. Please check out our airport maps for the location of each terminal.

As pollution and traffic are quite bad, most tourists/travellers limit their stay and use Metro Manila as a stop-over point only.
