  1. I got a reply for my booking and there is an OPTION given to FINALIZE, what does this mean?

An OPTION is the deadline given by the supplier for you to purchase or pay for your requested service. Finalize also means to pay. If your reply status was CONFIRMED, it can only be guaranteed confirmed for your actual use when you decide to finalize or pay for it on or before the OPTION date given. Once no purchase is made after the OPTION, your booking will be automatically cancelled and no confirmation is guaranteed should you decide to rebook.

  1. The reply I got for my booking was “BOOK AND BUY”. What does this mean?

Book and Buy” is a term you may encounter for tour packages and airline seat blockings. This normally happens during super peak season when hotels and flights are overbooked and their rooms are confirmed only upon pre-payment. In effect, our guests would have to make a non-refundable guarantee deposit once a booking is made. No OPTION is given since once you decide to BOOK AND BUY, it is considered guaranteed once the room or seat is confirmed and no refund is given for cancellation, whatever the reason may be. On the other hand, if it turned out that the room/hotel or seat requested is not available after payment of deposit, full amount will be reimbursed to you.

  1. What is an e-ticket?

An e-ticket is the electronic version of the conventional paper ticket. It’s an electronic file that is stored in the database of a computer instead of being printed down on paper. Can come in handy, because in case of theft or loss you can still depart. Most airlines, nowadays, normally issue e-tickets and a certain surcharge is usually imposed if a passenger selects a paper ticket.

  1. What is travel tax, how much and to whom does it apply?

Payment of Philippine Travel Tax is imposed by law for all Filipino passport holders, returning resident (immigration status 13A, B, C, D, E, G), Recognized Filipino Citizens (RFC) & Permanent Residents (immigration status RA7919 & RA7837), as well as other nationalities staying longer than one (1) year in The Philippines.

It must be paid only upon leaving The Philippines. It is charged by the airline on top of the purchase price of your international ticket. Foreign nationalities may therefore be requested to present their passport with visa status, or in its absence, the latest stamp of arrival in The Philippines. The amount is Php 1,620 per adult. A Reduced Travel Tax certificate can be requested from the Philippine Tourism Authority for children 2 to below 12 years old so they will pay only Php 810.

  1. Why do I have to pay insurance for my airline ticket?

Since 11 September 2001, airlines worldwide could no longer cover war risk with their insurance brokers. They therefore come up with an additional charge to be borne by the passenger called “war risk tax” or “insurance surcharge”. This is already included when you pay your airline ticket.

  1. Where is the airport terminal in Manila?

Manila has three (3) airport terminals, located on three (3) different locations:

    • Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), also called Terminal 1 is used for all international flights except Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines.

    • Centennial Airport, also called Terminal 2, is used for all international and domestic flights of Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines.

    • Manila Domestic Airport is used for all domestic flights within the Philippines, except for Pacific Airways, Philippine Airlines and Air Philippines which have their own facilities.

  1. What is the distance between each airport terminal in Manila?

NAIA is located approximately 7 km. south of the main tourist areas of Ermita and Malate in Manila, and approximately 7 km southwest of the main business area of Makati. The Manila Domestic airport is located approximately 3 kms away from NAIA. The Centennial Airport is located between NAIA and the Domestic airport at approximately 1 km east of NAIA. However, getting from one airport to another is expressed mainly in time rather than in distance due to the permanent traffic congestion. To get from one terminal to the other would take up to one (1) hour. We therefore recommend sufficient time allowance for check-in specially for those with connecting flights.
