Clark is a former US Air Force Base and has long been the principal aviation center of the Philippines. It nestles against the northwest side of Angeles City in the province of Pampanga, and is about 60 kilometers northwest of Manila.
Since the American troops left, the Philippine government has been working hard to convert Clark in to a vibrant economic zone. The former base is now home to a golf resort, a number of industrial buildings, landmarks and retail establishments. It has become popular among tourists because it is a center for some thrilling adventure sports, including parachuting, microlight flying and off-road motorcycling.
It is also the gateway to Mt. Pinatubo, which is now a tourist attraction because of its magnificent crater lake. Another equally attractive attraction in the area is Mt. Arayat, which is a dormant volcano that can be scaled even by the inexperienced climber.
Clark can be reached easily from Manila by a 2-3 hours bus/car ride or through a 30-minute flight to Clark International Airport via Seair or Asian Spirit.
