Cebu is the fastest growing metropolis outside of Metro Manila. Located in the middle of the Visayas, Cebu is one of the most developed provinces in the country and is the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the central and southern parts of the archipelago.

Cebu is also known to offer travelers a great escape from city life. The province has five-star hotels, casinos, white sand beaches, world-class golf course, convention center and shopping malls.

Cebu island is a long narrow island stretching 225 km from north to south, surrounded by 167 neighboring smaller islands, that includes Mactan Island, Bantay, Daanbatnay, Malapascua, Olango and the Camotes Islands. Of the hundreds of small island some are uninhabited which make them the targets of adventure-seeking tourists.

The major attractions visited by tourists are Magellan’s Cross, Fort San Pedro, Casa Gorordo, Lapu Lapu Shrine, Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, Magellan’s Shrine, Taoist Temple, Bantayan & Malapascua islands which offer nice beaches and very good diving, and Mactan Island for its beaches also.

Cebu contains the country’s second international airport, which is the most important transportation facility in the Visayas and Mindanao. The Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in Mactan Island also has regular direct flights to (among others) Hongkong, Singapore, Japan, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul and Doha, Qatar. There are also direct transfer flights via the capital's NAIA that readily connects the city to other destinations in the world. There are several flights to Cebu from major cities in the Philippines. From Manila, it will take a 1 hour & 10 minute flight via Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific or Air Philippines. Asian Spirit and Seair operates flights from Cebu to smaller destinations in the Visayas and Mindanao which are not serviced by the three bigger airlines. The province is also accessible by ship from Manila and by fast ferry from nearby provinces in the Visayas.
